Strive for the well done!

Do you sometimes wonder what will happen to you the moment you die…yes…the moment you die. Unfortunately your death cannot be avoided. It cannot be avoided by you. It cannot be avoided by those who love you. So what will happen when….you die?

The Bible says ultimately you will go and meet Jesus. Eventually you will be resurrected and stand before Jesus. This is huge for you! Jesus told a story in Matthew 25 about how huge this is for you.

One day a man (God) went on a long journey. He called his servants and gave them money. To one he gave 5 bags of gold, to another 2, to another 1, each according to their ability. The man went away for a long time. While he was away the servant with 5 bags gained 5 more and the servant with 2 gained 2 more. The servant with one buried his money and gained nothing.

Eventually the man returned. To the servants who doubled their money, he said “Well done, good and faithful servant!” To the one who buried his money, it did not go so well.

Here’s the thing. All of us will one day stand before God and hear something. You will be there one day. You will hear something from God. The only question is what will you hear? I hope well done!

In the parable the man is God and the money the abilities God entrusts to us to use for him. I don’t know the abilities God has entrusted to you. I do know the best way to insure you use those abilities for God in your life is to focus on your spiritual growth. If you are growing spiritually you will consistently use your abilities for God as opportunities come along. In fact your spiritual growth will cause you to see opportunities regularly where you would not have seen them before.

Your spiritual growth is important! Focus on it because in the end a life focused on spiritual growth results in well done my good and faithful servant! Always? Yes always.

Today, what is one behavior you will start practicing to create more spiritual growth in your life?
